Bathroom Reveal

We have been working on our bathroom over the past few weeks - well actually just one wall in the bathroom - and I'm very excited to say that it is finally done!

Sprucing up the bathroom involved adding:
  • some beaded panelling to the lower part of the wall
  • some trim along the top of the panelling
  • some photos of the cottage
  • and a new towel rack.

In all honesty the towels won't be like that unless we have guests.  I chose the double towel rack so we could each hang our towels out flat and they would dry easily - I just put the hand towels there for show.  Speaking of towels, though, what colour would you suggest for our bathroom?  We could still use white, but I'm not against adding some colour or pattern.

And because everyone loves a good before-and-after, here's a few comparison shots:

This last photo also gives you a sneak peek as to what still needs to be done in the bathroom - new counters, faucet, lights, and possibly a mirror frame.

  1. Wow - it looks incredible! It always shocks me how just a change in one area of a room can affect everything. I love the framed photos along the rail and just the bead board in general! The towel rack looks really fancy too and helpful like you said for drying. I love it all - it looks so serene and beach-inspired!

  27. Love the beadboard, towel rack, and shelf trim. On my computer screen, your walls look a pale blue. I'd look for towels in a darker blue paired with white, or possibly sea grean with either blue or white. I think it would look great if you could find perhaps a check or plaid fabric picking up the towel colors, and add a wide fabric band to the bottom of the shower curtin.

  36. This is really wonderful. We also have tall beadboard in our bath and I already have the white Ikea frames with the intention of putting some black and whites in them. You beat me to it! I think you could do some punchy towel colors that complement the wall color, perhaps a fresh green or coral?

  37. I want to thank each and every commenter - I'm sincerely flattered and pleased as punch that you like it.

  40. one of the gals on another blog took wood and painted it black mitered the corners and made a large picture frame around her large mirror like you have. She put double backed tape on the wood frame and placed it around the mirror. boy did it pop out the mirror and modern things up! Great job

  46. Hi! I just found this through Centsational Girl and I love it! I am so curios about the wall paint color and where did you find that beadboard paneling? And I'm wondering how much it was. Do you have any idea how big the panels are? I've seen this before but the panels seem more narrow than yours--your seem wide and I like that! I would love to do something like this in my bathroom (hence all the questions)! Love love love it, great job!

  47. I am so fascinated with that wonderful magazine holder. I'm thinking it's vintage? I would need a few of those at least but just one would force me to cut down on my magazine habit. :-)
