Spring Must Finally Be Here

This weekend we were happy to find the first flowers in our garden.

It is truly remarkable that we have flowers blooming, because the backyard is still mostly covered in what remains of the 20 cm of snow we had on Wednesday ( you can see some of the snow in the bottom left part of the picture below).

The next photo was taken Thursday morning after the snow storm this past week.  The sun is strong at this time of the year, so even though it has remained cold the snow is disappearing.

We celebrated Earth Hour on Saturday by turning out all the lights in the house, burning candles and listening to a little guitar and mandolin music.

Kate and I went to Anthropologie this weekend to see the spring store displays which were, unfortunately, still under construction.  It takes us over an hour to get there so it was a little disappointing to find the displays only partially built.  However, we still enjoyed ourselves and got ourselves some good old Anthro inspiration.

More Anthropologie pictures coming soon.

  1. I remember that wait for the last of the snow to disappear! Over this way we are still under grey skies and anxious for some real, sustained sunshine.

  7. Oh gosh, great photos. Do we live live in the same country? It has snowed and snowed and snowed for the last several days on top of our ninety million feet snow drifts. Tonight driving home from my parent's the landscape all looked the exact same, an eerie shade of white, and drifts were as high as the vehicle on the sides of the road. The snow was blowing straight across the windshield because of the wind---and my husband has been blowing out oilfield leases until one or two AM for the past several nights. Mercy me. I'm moving East. Do you have a spare room? I'll bring my mandolin and we can jam.

  8. How wonderful to have spring blooms, my tulips and daffs are just peeking out of the ground. I'd love to visit Anthropologie. Hope you get to visit again soon and see all the displays.

  9. Great post. Love your spring iris, too cold in my garden for any spring flowers. Take care and enjoy your week.

  10. I love finding a few brave blooms at the tail end of winter! Sorry you didn't get the full Anthro dispay, but it must have been fun to see a bit of the "process", right? I sometimes drive home via downtown, just so I can peek in the Anthro window!

  12. That is so cute to see the little flowers sprouting up despite the frigid winds. I have some little hellibores that will not even open up as it is too cold. V

  13. Hard to imagine the cold right now. We have warm humid air here. Not pleasant. Went to turn the AC on and it is not working!
