I'm very excited and flattered to have our kitchen featured on Remodelaholic (you can read the post here). Painting the kitchen was a huge project and at the time I felt like it went on forever. Now I'm just so happy I did it as the kitchen looks so fresh and clean. I still have things I want to finish in there, but I can live with that.
It's now been almost six months since I finished painting the kitchen and here are a few things I've noticed:
- the cabinets are easier to wipe down now that they are painted
- I love decorating the new open shelves and they hold almost as much as they did before
- the darker colour on the bottom has helped hide spills on the cabinet doors near the dishwasher until they can be wiped up

As I wrote last week, I just had my one year blog anniversary and that same week two things happened: I ran out of photo space on Blogger and had to pay $5 for 10,000 more photos (which seemed like a good deal to me); and I filled up my blog following capacity. Apparently you are only able to follow 300 blogs and I'm now there, which means that every time I find a new blog I want to follow I have to delete another one - gah! It's agony.
Congrats, Grace! I like the darker color on the bottom cabinet. Now I am off to see the post :D
ReplyDeleteHi Grace, I have run into the same problem following blogs. But I find if I hit the follow button on the side of someone's blog it will add it. But if I copy and paste their address and try to add it it rejects it saying I have over 300. It is frustrating, but like I say, I haven't had trouble if the blog I want to follow has the follower thing on the sidebar.
ReplyDeleteSo how did they notify you about being full on the picture allotment?
Congrats on the the feature. How exciting. The kitchen looks fantastic and I like the very practical idea of the darker colour on the bottom.
ReplyDeleteI don't quite think I am up to following 300 blogs yet, but I must admit, I have been terrible and have left the computer on the last couple of weeks and sit down every now and then to see what is happening. ~Deb~
First off the kitchen looks great! Second...I had no clue that there was a limit to anything on blogger...I guess, I get now, why so many are switching over to other blog sites. I had no idea there was a limit. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't know about the save my blog feature!
ReplyDeleteWow! How fabulous (and what a great tribute to all your hard work.) I am contemplating the painting of my kitchen cupboards this year as well. Only problem is - they are New Guinea rosewood and the thought of painting over natural timber fills me with a little bit of panic. (I can hear my dear father saying - "How could you possibly paint over such beautiful natural timber!!??") I am also slightly fearful that they might end up looking really bad and then I wouldn't be able to go back to the natural timber. Grace, did you spray your cupboards or use a brush? Also, did you use acrylic paint? I'll see if I can summons up the courage to give it a go.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations once again! ;)Sharyne
Congrats on your feature Grace. I love that you did the bottom a different color. I had no idea about the following limit!
ReplyDeleteWow!! I love your kitchen Grace. I am thinking a cup of coffee at your place would be heaven :)
ReplyDeleteOnly 300 ..oh,oh, thanks for the tip! Congrats on your Blog Anniversary too :)

HI Grace, our kitchen certainly deserves to be shown , looks great. I've also had to pay the photo storage thing, but I didn't know about limit on following blogs!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend
Sharon
congratulations on the mention - your kitchen is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOf course your kitchen was featured!! It's beautiful and you did a wonderful job on it! You've got me thinking ... I wonder how long it will be until I max out my photo storage ... I guess I'll expect the notice any day now.
ReplyDelete300 blogs....oh my goodness. makes me feel better about the 25-30, I probably follow. How do you ever have time to follow that many? It takes me about an hour to go through htem if I have time in the morning/evening. Sometimes I cruise around the sidebars of your blog...and Funky Junk, if I want to scope out a few more I think will interest me. (I love that feature by the way!)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Grace! This is amazing .. . I had no idea you were featured on Remodelaholic. That's fantastic and such an honor. Your kitchen is beautiful! I'll head over there and read the story.
