New Year's Eve in the Snow

New Year's at the cottage is a lovely way to start the year.  You never know what kind of weather you will have, but this year was a perfect winter wonderland.

There was snow on every branch.

And funny little snow caps.

And snow defining the shape of the evergreen trees.

And a snowy canopy over the road.

The water molecules seem to organize themselves into making beautiful ice crystals when they freeze.

The lake was frozen so we walked and some of us skied on it.  Yep those are my parents in their 80s skiing across the lake - impressive, eh!

One day was overcast with soft lighting and we walked around in a black-and-white world and the other day was sunny and blindingly sparkly beautiful.

Some of us had tobogganing wars.

And we all enjoyed good food and fun and games until midnight on New Year's eve.

Now that I'm back home from the cottage, life will return to normal.  I need to put the tree away, pull the house back into some semblance of order, and get some projects done.

How was your New Year's Eve?
