Sprucing up the bathroom involved adding:
- some beaded panelling to the lower part of the wall
- some trim along the top of the panelling
- some photos of the cottage
- and a new towel rack.
In all honesty the towels won't be like that unless we have guests. I chose the double towel rack so we could each hang our towels out flat and they would dry easily - I just put the hand towels there for show. Speaking of towels, though, what colour would you suggest for our bathroom? We could still use white, but I'm not against adding some colour or pattern.
And because everyone loves a good before-and-after, here's a few comparison shots:

This last photo also gives you a sneak peek as to what still needs to be done in the bathroom - new counters, faucet, lights, and possibly a mirror frame.

Wow - it looks incredible! It always shocks me how just a change in one area of a room can affect everything. I love the framed photos along the rail and just the bead board in general! The towel rack looks really fancy too and helpful like you said for drying. I love it all - it looks so serene and beach-inspired!
ReplyDeleteWow you did an amazing job! I love the bead board so much. The wide kind is my favourite. It looks straight out of a magazine! Really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely transformation, although there was nothing wrong with before at all, but the new look is wonderful!

ReplyDeleteLove it. For such a simple project, it makes a great impact on the room.
ReplyDeleteThe bead board makes a huge difference! I think what I love the most is the pictures on the ledge. That adds so much to the room. The baskets go so perfectly in the room. Can't wait to see what else you do!

Oh I love how this turned out! What a difference it made too. I am doing this in our powder room, when I figure out what I want to do with our floors first. I would love it if you stopped by this week for a Bring IN The Spring party!
ReplyDeleteGreat job. Very impressive.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! DD2 and I were talking about beadboard in her bathroom today. Now to talk DH into it.

ReplyDeleteWOW - I am dying for beadboard in our bathroom - amazing!!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! It looks great. :) I love the color on your walls. I think a towel in that same pretty blue, maybe with a monogram or a neat pattern would be cool! Visiting from Kimba's party. Hope you'll stop by! :)
ReplyDeleteThat bead board is awesome! I love how the deep frames look on the ledge. Very pretty and beachy!

wow! so clean and beautiful. great transformation :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous makeover! Can you do my bathroom next - lol! Coming over from Blue Cricket Design, new follower!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely redo. I love the prints and the bead boarding...one of my favorite things. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteTurned out great! Such a nice fresh "facelift"!!
ReplyDeleteLove the beadboard, towel rack, and shelf trim. On my computer screen, your walls look a pale blue. I'd look for towels in a darker blue paired with white, or possibly sea grean with either blue or white. I think it would look great if you could find perhaps a check or plaid fabric picking up the towel colors, and add a wide fabric band to the bottom of the shower curtin.
ReplyDeleteIt's GORGEOUS! I've been wanting to do this kind of thing in our bathrooms for over a year but haven't taken the plunge. You've inspired me yet again! Great job.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I really like the little pictures all down the wall. I'm your newest follower :)

This is really wonderful. We also have tall beadboard in our bath and I already have the white Ikea frames with the intention of putting some black and whites in them. You beat me to it! I think you could do some punchy towel colors that complement the wall color, perhaps a fresh green or coral?
ReplyDeleteI want to thank each and every commenter - I'm sincerely flattered and pleased as punch that you like it.
ReplyDeleteNice and fresh, like the beadboard and photos on the rail added, all looks great!
ReplyDeleteLinda
I love how you added the pictures on the ledge of the paneling. The colors are great to!
ReplyDeleteone of the gals on another blog took wood and painted it black mitered the corners and made a large picture frame around her large mirror like you have. She put double backed tape on the wood frame and placed it around the mirror. boy did it pop out the mirror and modern things up! Great job
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with bead board that I want to put it up all over my house. Your photos on the little ledge of the bead board is such a classy addition to the space.

Terrific job! I am a beadboard lover! That's a really nice sized bathroom.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos too

Hi! I just found this through Centsational Girl and I love it! I am so curios about the wall paint color and where did you find that beadboard paneling? And I'm wondering how much it was. Do you have any idea how big the panels are? I've seen this before but the panels seem more narrow than yours--your seem wide and I like that! I would love to do something like this in my bathroom (hence all the questions)! Love love love it, great job!
ReplyDeleteI am so fascinated with that wonderful magazine holder. I'm thinking it's vintage? I would need a few of those at least but just one would force me to cut down on my magazine habit. :-)
ReplyDeletePls do you remember where you got the towel rack from?
